Okay, it's been ages since my last post, I feel like I say this in most blog posts, my only excuse is life just gets in the way sometimes, so.... yeah! MOVING ON..
I have finally done a couple of illustrations, one of which I will show you today, as it has been so damn long since I had any drawings on here. I guess all the knitting and crocheting took over, which is fine, as I have improved so much with those over the last year.
I have been playing (well, completed in less than a week more like) Life is Strange, which was honestly one of the most emotional, brilliant games I have ever played. You guys need to get on that already if you haven't already done so, and if you are into choices and consequence games. I decided to draw my favourite character from the game, Chloe. She is a total badass and has pretty cool style, and she fitted perfectly in with my creepy-cute style of art!
It's been good to get back into drawing again, and I have been attending a Drink and Draw in Aberdeen, which has helped force me to look out the pens and pencils again! My amazing partner MrKaiM81 created the event, keep reading until the end of the post, and I will leave links for the monthly drawing event for you to check out!
Another game related character I have been working on over the last month or so, has been this super cute chocobo! KWEH!
It took a while to figure out all the funky shapes within this little guy, but I am super pleased with the result, and can't wait to give him to his new owner. This doll is all crocheted, which worked perfectly for all the interesting shapes, which quite frankly would have made me go insane if I attempted to knit it, haha!
I'm sensing a theme here with this blog, but have you guys been playing Pokemon Go??? Are you also drowning in Zubat's and Drowzee's??? They seem to be the only thing popping up in Aberdeen, so to get over this I decided to crochet my own Pokemon! They are so frigging adorable, don't you think??? I used free patterns for these little guys designed by 53 Stitches, you should check out her amazing Tumblr!
Right, I'm sure that is enough game related cuteness for you to handle right now!
You can keep up to date with all my latest work, as well as more knitting and crochet work I don't put on here, by following me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (all @nicolpops).
If you are in Aberdeen and fancy coming along to the monthly Drink and Draw, you can find more information on the latest events by following their Facebook group and Twitter. The next event takes place on Thursday 25th August, at the original Brewdog Bar!
Various ponderings by me; Nicola Brand: creator of the Nicolpops stitch-punk doll. I dabble with illustration, but my main passion is for knitting, and using mixed media to create one of a kind critters.
