As you can probably tell from the title, this blog post involves knitting... And picnics! Foxy picnics to be exact! I finally got round to finishing a Mrs Fox for my Mr Fox stitch punk doll, to celebrate 100 years of Roald Dahl this year, and because anyone that knows me knows I am flipping mad about foxes!
I took the dolls out to do a cute photoshoot in the Duthie Park, seeing as the sun was shining for once, here are a few of my fave pics from the day:
Aint they cute? I will be selling these two along with Mr Rat and Scruffy Mr Fox in the near future, so keep an eye on my Facebook page for further updates, as I post there more often than here! Otherwise, you may contact me through my website here for any enquiries on purchasing these.
I have decided to join my first KAL (that's Knit Along for all you non-knitters), and with this, make my very first shawl as well! Kate Heppell, editor of Knit Now magazine, has generously designed a Recharge Shawl pattern for this KAL, to be released in instalments via her mailing list. This shawl is designed in light of all the horrible things that are happening in the world at the moment, as a way of getting us to focus on something positive and give us a chance to recharge, and give us strength. I have received the first instalment and have worked one repeat. It is rather detailed, thus I shall be keeping this for when I am alone and can use the quiet to focus on knitting each technique. Want to join in with the mystery Recharge KAL? You can sign up to Kate's mailing list via her latest blog post here, and it's FREE (thanks Kate)!
You can see what I have done so far with the KAL here! I reckon this will take me a good while to do, but it will be worth it in the end. I have gone for dark, Autumnal colours, as they make me feel most calm, and I actually enjoy knitting in black yarn!
You can keep up to date on my Recharge KAL progress via my Ravelry page.
Aberdeen's first Drink and Draw
My super talented partner MrKaiM81, has created a new event with Brewdog Bar Aberdeen this Thursday (June 30th) which you should come along to if A) you enjoy beer, and B) you love drawing! I of course shall be attending, especially since my illustrations have been in complete hiatus this year (I'm sorry, knitting just takes up all my free time at the moment)! Check out the event on Facebook here, and I hope to see you there!
Various ponderings by me; Nicola Brand: creator of the Nicolpops stitch-punk doll. I dabble with illustration, but my main passion is for knitting, and using mixed media to create one of a kind critters.
