Who else adores Autumn? The colours, the smells, finally being able to wear layers.... And hand knitted accessories - like this beautiful Baable hat I made for myself!
It is seriously the most cosiest thing I have ever made, and was surprisingly easy to make. I have been pretty terrified of hand fair isle knitting, until I realised I was completely over thinking it, and that all you need to do is just KNIT! I have admired this pattern since it was released for last year's Shetland Wool Week (and designed by Donna Smith), so I thought "fuck it" and gave it a go! What do you think? I love the bright contrasting colours! :)
I have had quite a few ideas of what I wanted to write about in this blog, but instead of breaking down everything into one giant post, I am going to keep this one fairly short so that I can dedicate my next blog to something a little different (and what has been keeping me busy the last few months).
As it's almost Halloween, I want to show you my latest stitch punk creation - Harley Quinn!
I decided to do a Suicide Squad / Jester mash up on her outfit, which I think make shed look so damn cute! Here are some progress shots as well as the final product - her hair was so fun to dye, and I thought the dye bath I made created a really great shot, and who doesn't love a little work in progress pic?
She is available for sale, just fire a message on here or via my Nicolpops Facebook page for more info.
Keeping this short and sweet, but hope you have an amazingly fun Halloween! I shall be doing some veggie carving at the Aberdeen Drink and Draw at Brewdog tomorrow night, feel free to come along if you are in the area!
Various ponderings by me; Nicola Brand: creator of the Nicolpops stitch-punk doll. I dabble with illustration, but my main passion is for knitting, and using mixed media to create one of a kind critters.
