Remember that super exciting news I couldn't tell you from my last blog post??? Well now I can finally share this wonderful news with you all!
Last year I took part in a competition with Knit Now magazine and in conjunction with Sirdar yarns, to be crowned Knitter of the Year. I'm sure you can see where I am going with this...hehe. There were four categories within the contest; Designer of the Year, Online Knitter of the Year, Charity Knitter of the Year and the Open Category. Because my work is mostly mixed media based, rather than hand -knitting alone, I chose to enter the Open Category with this cheeky fellow:
I chose to enter Mr Elephant here because he was one of my fave dolls I made last year, and I feel like I really pushed myself with this one, making him truly unique with his embellishments and features (and the sparkly gradient yarn looked so flipping cool too)!
Anyway... I got the super exciting email a few weeks ago that I was one of the chosen winners! Wahhoo! And even more amazing, is that one of the prizes is that each winner will get to take a trip to Sirdar (where all the beautiful yarn is made!!!) in Yorkshire, and take a look at the new collections and how they are made etc! Pretty much a dream come true to anyone who is yarn crazy!
Of course I will be taking loads of pictures when I am there so I can show you all. I really can't wait!
So that was my great news! Other than that I have been working on my new fox dolls, which may not be out before Valentines as planned, as I need to get more yarn for them, but I will keep ya updated!
Various ponderings by me; Nicola Brand: creator of the Nicolpops stitch-punk doll. I dabble with illustration, but my main passion is for knitting, and using mixed media to create one of a kind critters.
