What a month it’s been, I have lots of new stuff to share!
I got a new job (YAY) which I start tomorrow (or today technically by the time I post this), so super excited for that! Never thought I would be in the situation of redundancy, although it is very common in Aberdeen just now if you work in the oil industry – I however do not, so was not expecting it! Some days I felt great, and was happy to just work away on my building more with Nicolpops, but then others I honestly felt alone, and felt like I couldn’t leave the house, like I was in solitary confinement (or that could just be me watching too much Orange Is The New Black, haha). SO anyway, if any of you are in a similar situation, just have faith, and don’t be afraid to talk about it, let your emotions out, and try not to worry so much, these situations are meant to happen to test us!
My amazing boyfriend, Paddy (MrKaiM81) finished uni last week, and made some really cool toys for his degree show! Check out his blog and instagram to see more of his work! I can’t believe it has already been 3 years since I graduated! I am proud of everything I have achieved so far, and looking forward to more things coming!
Here are a couple of illustrations I did this month, had so much fun with these:
I have always admired the outfits that Mathilda wears in Leon:The Professional, so I really felt inspired to draw her. And Tank Girl… Well after watching the movie for the first time I was treated to some of her comics from Paddy, and I am totally hooked! She kicks ass, man! So of course I had to turn her into a Nicolpops doll:
Really happy with how this one has turned out, she has sold already, however not to worry as I have a few dolls in line along the theme of comic book and game characters, which I am super excited to make and share with you! I am currently working on a Final Fantasy Moogle, but pictures of that can wait for the next blog post ;) Or you can check out my Facebook Page and Twitter / Instagram for progress pics.
And just for a bit of fun, I have been into hand knitting a lot more, starting with socks! Of course I made a pair of signature Nicolpops black and white ones for myself, and the yellow ones for Paddy. I can’t wait to make more, I may even design a line to sell nearer Christmas time!
I also tried designing and making a dream catcher, probably because I seen so many cool ones on Pintrest, I just had to try it out! Sometimes it’s good to just try something new and totally different to your normal line of work. I can sometimes feel stuck in a rut creatively, so doing new things helps me to become inspired again, and at least I am still doing something creative instead of worrying where the next source of inspiration is going to come from.
Well that's all for now, quite a long post this month! I shall post up a post on the Moogle doll once it is finished, probably in the next week or so! :)
As always, feel free to leave any comments or ask me anything either via here or any of my social media!
