Ah it has been so long since my last blog post, I do apologise! I have been trying out some new things, just for myself, mainly teaching myself crochet and more hand knitting techniques, as I need to know quite a lot about these skills at my day job. SO just been making myself some accessories, and I even crochet a Soot Sprite (which I may make more of for Christmas time actually, so if you are interested in buying one, let me know)! Here are a few pics of the wee side projects I have been doing:
Now for the main even of this post... Remember that doll I said I was making, but had to wait to be able to show you all? Well here she is: Mikasa from Attack On Titan!
I had so much fun making her, as I am such a freaking huge AOT fan, so I am honoured to have been asked to make her (the weapons are even detachable with poppers)!
So now I can concentrate on finishing up my Alice doll, and the cheshire cat, hopefully in time for Halloween!
I have also started another blog/website with my friend, Kristen. She is a super talented artist, who makes the most wonderful murals! The aim of this website is to set each other a drawing challenge each week, and use the website to upload our final results. It could be a finished piece, a painting, a sketch/doodle, anything really. My challenge for this week was to draw a mermaid/merman surrounded by three fishes:
Next weeks challenge is a landscape based one, which to me truly is a challenge, as I am so used to doing character work, so I'm sure these results will be interesting...
You can check out the website here to view both of our works: www.brandandbruce.com
That's all for now, thanks for sticking by during this period of silence, I will be trying my best to upload blog posts more often! Don't forget to follow me on social media, as I post there most often!
Various ponderings by me; Nicola Brand: creator of the Nicolpops stitch-punk doll. I dabble with illustration, but my main passion is for knitting, and using mixed media to create one of a kind critters.
